CICP to review Qld Govt Repatriation Protocols

Arts Queensland, in conjunction with the Premier's Department, has commissioned the CICP to undertake a comprehensive review of the protocols for the Repatriation of Indigenous Human Remains and cultural property that are currently in use by various State Government agencies.

These include the Queensland Museum and Art Gallery. At our sugestion, it was also extended to cover smaller organiations such as the John Tonge Centre.

The CICP will work closely with other Indigneous individuals (especially elders) and organisations on this.

The outcome will be a set of proposals , includng draft protocols. These are expected to be developed by the end of 2009.
